Being a tween or a teen with Spina Bifida means tackling a lot of issues that your friends may not have to deal with in their own lives. But you aren’t alone – especially in dealing with the tough questions. Your parents and your medical professionals and other support systems are great places to turn when you have questions you need the answer too. If you find though that you can’t find the answer to your question, you can always come here and review the questions other teens have asked – or submit your own!
Where can I take driving lessons, and where can I have my truck modified?
Driving lessons can be arranged through private driving schools in most states. However, if you need to learn on an adapted/modified vehicle, you will need to ensure that the driving school has an appropriate vehicle to meet your needs.
Regarding modifications, it is best to call the manufacturer of the vehicle that you drive. This is because some vehicles can be adapted and others can’t. The manufacturer is the best entity to advise you on the feasibility and safety of modifying your truck for your needs.
Once you find out that you will be able to have your vehicle modified, you can contact local automotive service centers in your town to locate the right one for you.
